Ripley Castle Weddings
Well, here we are at the very lovely Ripley Castle. The weather is good, our models are beautiful and we have a full course of students with their cameras at the ready. So with coffee in hand, it is time to go check out all the lovely areas this venue has to offer… they could be gone a while.
Today the guys are going to learn how we photograph and run a real wedding day. There are so many things the photographer has to do on the day besides the photos, but we will add all these into the mix so the students get a real feel of how we work.
After the walkabout, we continued with bridal prep photos. The wedding dress and all the incidentals are covered before moving on to prep photos for both the bride and groom.
After a busy morning, it was time to break for a well-deserved spot of lunch a cup of coffee and time to discuss with each other their photos from the morning session. As soon as we had finished eating, it was time to conclude the indoor session with the bride’s arrival and ceremony.

The weather in the afternoon was for the most was overcast and breezy with the occasional bright outbursts of sunshine. So with all these elements going on, it was a great learning experience for the students. With so many great locations around the castle, we were spoilt for choice for the outdoor Bride and Groom shots. So we covered all the key areas first, the Castle arches, Terrace, Iron Bridge and finally the Lakeside and jetty, the latter being a real challenge when your bride is over water wearing a cathedral-length veil…
The day fast approaching its close, so we headed back to the castle, where a little hydration break was needed after the walk from the lake.
The last Castle tour had now finished and we had full access to The Great Staircase and the elegant Drawing Room. Time to break out the video lights and off-camera-flash gear and let these guys finish their day with stunning shots of these amazing rooms.
We would like to thank all the staff at Ripley Castle especially Dave for looking after us so well. We are truly spoilt when we visit you guys. xx
